Supply Chain Management Software

An order can pass through several organisations before it reaches the customer. Give your team a clearer view of commitments, movement and exceptions across that journey, using information from the systems and people responsible.

Define supply chain milestones and shared records

Map purchase orders, supplier confirmations, dispatches and receipts using shared identifiers. Decide which updates come from a partner system and which are entered by staff. An expected delivery date should remain distinct from a confirmed dispatch or a receipt recorded at the destination.

Make changes traceable

Orders are split, quantities change and deliveries arrive late. Define how these events affect open commitments and customer promises. Keep the previous value and the reason for a change where required, and assign exceptions to a person instead of allowing them to disappear into a dashboard.

Test partner data before relying on it

Review sample files and API messages from each participating system. Test duplicate updates, unknown product codes and partial receipts. Reporting should show data freshness and unresolved integration errors so a missing partner update is not mistaken for a shipment that has stopped moving.

Project deliverables

  • Order and shipment milestone model
  • Partner interface and field mappings
  • Exception queues and responsibility rules
  • Reconciliation and reporting checks

Service questions and answers

What information makes a supply chain view useful?

Begin with orders, supplier commitments, dispatches and receipts used for actual decisions. Each milestone needs an identifier, source and timestamp. Show expected events separately from confirmed ones, especially when partner updates arrive late or only part of an order has moved.

Can suppliers with different software participate?

Potentially, using supported APIs, agreed files or controlled manual submissions. Each route has different limits. Review sample records and access permissions, then define field mappings and error ownership before depending on that connection for purchasing, receiving or customer delivery information.

How should split deliveries and changed quantities be recorded?

Keep the original commitment and relate each actual movement to it. A partial receipt should reduce the outstanding quantity without finishing the whole order. Corrections need an authorised route and sufficient history to explain why today's position differs from the original plan.

Can sensors add useful shipment information?

They may provide readings or location events where suitable equipment and interfaces exist. Show the source, age and gaps in that information. Link it to the correct shipment and interpret it within device limits rather than treating sensor data as a complete delivery record.
