# IT Project Planning & Delivery Management

A project needs a shared view of what is being delivered and who can make decisions. We bring scope, dependencies and progress into one working plan that people can use throughout delivery.

## Set measurable goals for your technology project

A milestone should describe a useful result, not just a percentage of work completed. We clarify deliverables, acceptance criteria and the people responsible for review. The plan includes access, content, procurement and supplier dependencies as well as development tasks, so missing inputs do not quietly turn into unexplained delays later in the project.

## Keep changes and risks in the open

New information will arrive during delivery. We record its effect on scope, cost and timing so the right person can decide what changes. Regular reviews focus on completed work, unresolved issues and decisions needed next. Risks have an owner and a response; they are not simply repeated in a report until they become incidents.

## Treat release and handover as real milestones

A technically finished system may still need training, account access and operational readiness. We agree the evidence required before release and the route for handling defects afterward. Handover records open items and responsibilities across customer and supplier teams. This gives the business a clear transition from project activity to normal use and support.

## Service questions and answers

### What makes a project milestone meaningful?

A milestone should describe a result the owner can inspect and accept, such as a working user journey or a verified migration trial. It should name the required inputs and reviewer. A percentage complete is less useful when teams disagree about what finished means or which dependencies remain unresolved.

### How are scope changes handled during delivery?

Record the requested change, why it is needed and its likely effect on effort, risk and timing. The decision owner can then replace lower-priority work, revise the plan or defer the request. This keeps priorities flexible while preventing extra work from silently becoming an unacknowledged delivery commitment.

### How do multiple suppliers stay aligned?

Agree who owns each deliverable, interface and approval, then make dependencies visible in the shared plan. Reviews should identify the evidence and decisions needed from each supplier. A coordinator needs appropriate authority and an escalation route; coordination alone cannot resolve missing access or decisions that belong to the customer.

### What needs checking before a project moves into normal operation?

Review deployment readiness, account ownership, documentation and the people responsible for support. Open defects should have an agreed treatment rather than disappear into a handover document. Confirm how incidents and new changes will be handled after launch, including work that needs a separate maintenance or support arrangement.
