# MVP Planning & Product Development

An MVP should help you learn whether a product solves a useful problem. We shape a small first release around a real user journey and a clear decision about what happens next.

## Define the purpose of your minimum viable product

A first version cannot answer every question about a business. Pick the main uncertainty: whether users understand the service, complete a task or return to use it again. We separate the features needed to test that question from attractive extras. This keeps the release small without removing the parts that make the experience meaningful.

## Make the important journey work end to end

The initial build covers the essential screen, data and operational steps together. If a user submits a request, someone needs a reliable way to receive and handle it. Manual work can be appropriate behind an early product, provided its limits are clear and users are not promised automation that does not exist.

## Turn observations into the next decision

Agree what will be measured and who will review it before inviting users. Feedback, failed steps and support questions can reveal more than a visit count. We record what the release demonstrated, what remains uncertain and what would be required to expand. A decision to adjust the idea is a useful outcome too.

## Service questions and answers

### How can we turn an early idea into a buildable first release?

Start with the person who will use the product, the task they need to finish and the uncertainty you want to test. We can map one complete journey and distinguish essential features from later ideas. A short discovery step helps make the first release small without making it meaningless.

### What happens before you continue an unfinished product?

We review the source, licenses, current build, open issues and decisions made so far. A working demonstration and access to the original documentation help expose missing dependencies. The time needed depends on that evidence; a takeover assessment comes before a reliable commitment to continue development.

### How will our team review progress across different working hours?

Agree a regular review window, written progress updates and a named person for decisions on each side. Demonstrations should show completed user journeys and unresolved questions. Time-zone differences are manageable when approval deadlines and escalation routes are clear, but actual overlap and availability must be confirmed for the engagement.

### What should an MVP handover say about rights and reuse?

The agreement should identify the code, design files and deployment materials the customer receives, along with any reusable components or third-party licenses. Confidentiality and permitted reuse need explicit terms. Handover should also include customer-controlled accounts and the information another developer needs to understand and continue the product.

### How do we handle new ideas or an earlier launch date?

Compare each request with the learning goal of the first release. Some changes can replace lower-priority work; others alter the estimate or introduce new risks. An earlier date may require a smaller release, rather than skipping essential checks. Record the decision and its effect before the team changes direction.
