# Planning AI Workflows with Human Review

Before choosing a model or designing an assistant, decide who will use its output and how they will recognize a useful result.

## Define a focused task for the AI workflow

Choose a specific activity such as drafting a summary from approved documents. Identify the inputs, expected output and the conditions in which the task should stop. A bounded task is easier to review than an instruction to automate an entire department.

## Design human review of AI outputs

Make it possible for a reviewer to compare an output with its source information. Decide which actions require a person and how corrections are captured. Do not let a confident tone substitute for evidence.

## Set workflow permissions and exception rules

Use only the information and system permissions the workflow needs. Specify how it handles missing records, conflicting instructions and unavailable services. Keep a useful manual path for cases that the automation cannot resolve.

## Evaluate AI accuracy, usefulness and running costs

Build a set of representative examples, including awkward and incomplete inputs. Review accuracy, usefulness, response time and running cost against agreed criteria. Expand the workflow only when those observations support the next step.
